Pentland Hills Navigation Experience Day

Sat 01 October 2016 09:00-16:00
Pentland Hills Regional Park

The Edinburgh University Hillwalking Club has been organising trips and providing training opportunities to students to explore the Highlands safely for 30 years. Many of our members are highly experienced hillwalkers and have developed their navigational skills over the years in the club and prior to joining. Hillwalking and navigational awareness have lead many of our members around the world climbing great mountains in places such as South America, Europe and Asia.

This experience day aims to give people who are new to hillwalking an enjoyable but realistic experience that will help them decide if Hillwalking is the sport for them. Members of the club will share their experience with attendees. The day will equip beginners with the basic skills required to go hillwalking independently and/or with the Edinburgh University Hillwalking Club safely. Covering map reading skills, compass work, walk planning and general hillside safety.
